Telangana CM to hoist National Flag at Golconda Fort today
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will visit Khammam district on Thursday after hoisting the National Flag at the Golconda Fort on the Independence Day.Later in the day, Revanth Reddy will inaugurate the Sitarama Lift Irrigation Project in Pusugudem and proceed to Wyra to address a farmers' rally after completing the crop loan waiver scheme by releasing funds to waive crop loans of farmers up to Rs 2 lakh each.
The Chief Minister is expected to visit Delhi on August 16 to hold discussions with the party high command on the Cabinet expansion, appointment of new TPCC president and filling a few more nominated posts.
The Sitaram project fulfills the long-standing dream of providing irrigation water in the Khammam district. The project is designed to utilise Godavari waters for greening the district and is a significant milestone for Revanth Reddy, who views it as his political life ambition. The CM will switch on the pump house motors and perform a puja to 'Godaramma' at the delivery cistern as part of the event.
The Chief Minister will also complete the crop loan waiver, which has been one of the key promises of the Congress' manifesto for the Assembly elections. During the recent Lok Sabha elections campaigning, Revanth Reddy promised to waive crop loans of farmers by August 15 and is set to fulfill his promise on August 15.
On July 18, the government released Rs 6,034.97 crore to waive loans for 11.5 lakh farmers with debts up to Rs 1 lakh each. The second phase followed on July 30, with Rs 6,190.01 crore allocated to cover loans for 6.4 lakh farmers with debts up to Rs 1.5 lakh each.
Revanth Reddy is expected to release Rs 10,000 crore at a farmers' rally at Wyra in Khammam district on Thursday, to waive loans for farmers with outstanding debts between Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 2 lakh.
