Telangana CM To Inaugurate Handloom Institute
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will inaugurate the Indian Institute of Handloom Technology (IIHT) on Monday, agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said on Sunday. Revanth Reddy will also release Rs 290 crore for 36,133 handloom workers during the programme, to be held at the Lalitha Kala Thoranam.
The institute will provide technical training to 60 students in a three-year diploma course. “This will get them jobs in the private textiles, apparel, fashion, quality control and marketing sectors,” Rao said. The institute will come in handy for the Padmashali community to increase their technical expertise and beckon those from other communities, he said.
Nageswara Rao said the previous IIHT had gone to Andhra Pradesh, as it was located in Venkatagiri, due to the negligence of the previous BRS government. He noted that Telangana students had to go to the IIHTs in AP or Bargarh in Odisha to study.
