Telangana: Congress Names Dr. V. Narender Reddy for Graduate MLC Polls

Congress Selects Dr. V. Narender Reddy for MLC Election as Jeevan Reddy Opts Out

Hyderabad: The Congress on Friday announced Dr V. Narender Reddy as its candidate for the graduate MLC election to Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar constituency on February 27.

Party sources claimed that T. Jeevan Reddy, the MLC and senior Congress leader, had opted out in favour of Dr Narender Reddy. Jeevan Reddy, elected to the council in 2019, had unsuccessfully contested the 2023 Assembly and 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Despite this, the TPCC had recommended the name of Jeevan Reddy to the high command but leadership favoured Dr Narender Reddy, a debutant.

The Election Commission of India on January 29 released the schedule for elections to the graduate MLC constituency and two teacher MLC constituencies.

The election process will commence with the issuance of the election notification on February 3. The last date for filing nominations is February 10, followed by scrutiny of nominations on February 11. Candidates will have until February 13 to withdraw their nominations.

The elections will be held for the Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar Graduates' constituency, Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar Teachers' constituency, and Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Teachers' constituency. The six-year tenure of the incumbent MLCs—T. Jeevan Reddy (Congress) representing the Graduates' constituency, Kura Raghotham Reddy (Independent-PRTU) from the Medak Teachers' constituency, and Alugubelli Narsi Reddy (Independent-UTF) from the Warangal Teachers' constituency—will end on March 29.
