Telangana: Cops Shed Tears Guarding Onion Loaded Accident Truck

Khammam: The police on Friday stood guard at an onion-loaded lorry that met with an accident at Sitaramapuram village in Penuballi mandal of the district, to prevent looting, given that the bulbs are selling at over Rs 60 per kg in the market. At least 10 people were injured in the accident. They were taken to the Government Area Hospital for treatment.

A KVR Travels bus, en route from Hyderabad to Eluru, hit the onion-laden truck from behind. Police suspect that the driver may have dozed off, leading to the accident.

As onions spilled onto the road, police stepped in to prevent locals from looting them. Onions have become one of the costliest kitchen staples, with prices reaching Rs 60 per kg in the market.
