Hyderabad: Ahead of the Lord Ganesha festival and Milad-un-Nabi festivities, south zone DCP G. Chandra Mohan counselled persons with rowdysheets in 14 communal incidents on Tuesday. ACPs K. Venkat Reddy (Goshamahal), Syed Fayaz (Golconda), Mohd Munawar (Kulsumpura) and station house officers were present.
Woman Dies of Stroke in RTC Bus
Hyderabad: A 50-year-old woman died of a heart stoke while travelling in a RTC bus at Arvepally in the district on Tuesday. The woman was identified as Jatangi Yadamma, native of Mamidipally of Nagaram mandal. Police said she collapsed few minutes after she got into the bus. She was taken to a hospital at Arvepally where doctor declared her brought dead.
Man Electrocuted While Fixing Wire
Hyderabad: A 33-year-old electrician died after he suffered an electric shock while fixing a wire in his neighbour’s house late on Monday night, Pahadishareef police said on Tuesday. Police said the victim, Mohammed Basheeruddin, was standing on an iron gate and cutting the service wire when he came in contact with a phase wire and suffered an electric shock. His family members took him to a hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
Jainoor bandh today to protest rape bid on Adivasi woman
Adilabad: Sirpur (U) police on Tuesday registered a case under SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against Sheik Maqdhum of Sonupatelguda of Jainoor mandal for attempt to rape an Adivasi woman and assaulting her on August 31. Asifabad police led by DSP Sadaiah Panthati conducted an inquiry and took the accused into custody.
Adivasis staged a rasta roko against the assault by Maqdhum, an autorickshaw driver, and demanded swift justice for the victim and strong action against the accused. The Adivasis have given a call for Jainoor Bandh on Wednesday.
Family members of the victim lodged a complaint with Sirpur (U) police, stating that Maqdhum picked up the Adivasi woman when she was walking towards her village, near Raghavapur. In the complaint, it was stated that the accused attempted to rape her in the vehicle and she shouted for help.
The accused beat up the woman with the intention to kill her. When the victim fell unconscious, he left the place. The victim gained consciousness on September 2 and informed the matter to her family.
3 Killed, 4 Hurt as Lorry Rams into RTC Bus
Warangal: Three persons died and four were injured when a lorry rammed into an RTC bus at the outskirts of the Vavilala of Palakurthy mandal in Jangaon district on Tuesday.
Among the dead were Jatothu Bujji and his wife, from Velikatte Tikya thanda of Thorrur mandal and Naseema of Palakurthy mandal.
RTC deputy regional manager K. Bhanu Kiran said the Palle Velugu service was heading towards Palakurthy with around 18 passengers from the Thorrur bus depot. The lorry rammed into it when it was taking a turn, said Md. Raheeda, bus conductor.
Passengers called the police and the 108 service and shifted the injured to hospital.
One Bhulakshmi was shifted to MGM Hospital and Balaji to the government hospital at Thorrur.
RPF Rescues 247 Missing, Runaway Kids
Hyderabad: The Railway Protection Force (RPF), Secunderabad division, rescued three minors who had run away from home at the Karimnagar railway station.
K. Anthaiah, RPF assistant sub-inspector, and woman constable Ruchipal handed over the children to a shelter home on the directions of the child welfare committee.
In another incident on Monday, sub-inspector M. Venkat Reddy rescued a 14-year-old, who had got separated from his brother-in-law while boarding a train was rescued at Secunderabad.
According to a statement by Debashmita C. Banerjee, senior divisional security commissioner, Secunderabad division of the RPF, the force has rescued 247 runaway and missing children so far this year as part of Operation Nanhe Fariste.
