Telangana: Eight Held for Murder of Elderly Couple, Gold Recovered
Khammam: The police on Friday arrested eight individuals, including two women, for their alleged involvement in the brutal murder of an elderly couple in Nelakondapalli. Authorities also recovered eight tolas of gold from the suspects.
The victims, Venkata Ramana (65) and Krishna Kumari (60), were murdered on November 26, causing widespread shock in the district.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Shaik Abid alias Abid Ali, Chittiprolu Suresh alias Srinivasa Rao, Shaik Shabeena, Shaik Hussain Bee, Anumola Anil Kumar, Chaganti Manikanta, Jamal Bee, and Uber driver Shaik Fareed.
Speaking to the media, Khammam police commissioner Sunit Dutt explained that Shaik Abid was taken into custody after being spotted behaving suspiciously at the Painampally check post in Nelakondapally mandal. During interrogation, Abid confessed to the murder and revealed the names of his accomplices. The motive behind the crime was to steal money from the couple's house.
Abid reportedly formed a gang with seven others to commit thefts for quick financial gain. The gang targeted the elderly couple's house, suspecting them of possessing significant wealth.
In the second week of November, Shabeena and Hussain Bee rented a room in the victims' house as part of their plan. The gang used the rented room to execute their crime, barging into the house and strangling the couple to death. They then fled with eight tulas of gold ornaments.
