Hyderabad: The state government has filed an appeal challenging the single judge`s order which nullified a 2017 preliminary notification issued for acquiring 250 acresin Medipally and Kurmidha of Yacharam mandal for the Pharma City project.
On August 4, 2023, the single judge had directed the government to restart the acquisition process from the stage of hearing objections, and set aside the declarations and awards made by the land acquisition officer under the land acquisition Act of 2013, which mandates not only compensation of landowners but also rehabilitation of those who eke out their livelihood on the land.
The government’s appeal came for hearing on Friday before the division bench comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice J. Sreenivas Rao. The court condoned the delay in applications and adjourned the matter.
