Telangana Declares School Holiday, Exams Postponed
Hyderabad: The state government has declared a holiday for schools on Monday in view of a forecast for heavy rains. Leaves for all government employees have been cancelled.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Sunday said issued the order during a video conference with district collectors. The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary and officials of the municipal, Transco, revenue, panchayati raj, HYDRAA, GHMC and irrigation.
Meanwhile, Osmania University announced the postponement of all examinations scheduled for September 2 due to the inclement weather. The decision was made as several university buildings were flooded, making it unsafe for students to attend. “We will announce the new dates for the exams soon,” said the university’s Registrar in a statement.
