Kaleshwaram: Govt May Move SC Against HC Order; Cabinet Meets Tomorrow

The Guilty Will Eventually Go to Jail": TPCC Chief Mahesh Kumar Goud

HYDERABAD: Following the Telangana High Court’s verdict on the Justice P.C. Ghose Commission, TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud asserted that large-scale corruption in the Kaleshwaram project remains an undeniable fact.

Speaking to the media, Goud clarified that the High Court did not find fault with the Commission itself, its findings, the investigation process, or the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) report. Instead, the court’s intervention was limited strictly to a procedural technicality regarding the issuance of notices.

"It is a reality that a project built at a cost of ₹1 lakh crore began sinking within just three years," Goud remarked. "The culprits behind this disaster will inevitably end up behind bars. The state government is currently reviewing the High Court’s judgment and will determine the next course of legal action."

The TPCC Chief also took a swipe at the BJP leadership, questioning their silence on the matter. He reminded the public that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah had previously labelled the Kaleshwaram project an "ATM" for BRS leaders.

"Union Minister Kishan Reddy once claimed that if the case were handed over to the CBI, the culprits would be in jail within two days. So why hasn't the Centre initiated a CBI probe yet? Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay must answer for this inaction," Goud demanded.

Telangana state government is reportedly considering approaching the Supreme Court to challenge the High Court's ruling. To finalise this strategy, the State Cabinet is scheduled to meet this Thursday. The council of ministers will discuss the legal implications of the verdict and decide on the roadmap for the ongoing investigation into the irrigation project.
