Telangana Govt Making Efforts to Clear Two DAs for Staff Next Month

Hyderabad: The state government has initiated efforts to soon clear two pending DAs (Dearness Allowance) of employees and pensioners. After completing the crop loan waiver scheme, the government has now laid focus on mobilising funds to clear two DAs. Four DAs are due to employees and pensioners.

Official sources said that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed the finance department to mobilise funds to clear two DAs in September, prior to Dasara festival, slated for October first week.

Although the state government planned to clear two DAs soon after Lok Sabha elections ended on June 4, it could not do so due to financial constraints. Reddy accorded top priority to crop loan waiver scheme for farmers, which he wanted to finish by Independence Day. Subsequently, the finance department managed to raise funds for the crop loan waiver scheme that required a staggering Rs 18,000 crore, which was disbursed to banks from July 18 to August 15.

Meanwhile, Telangana employees’ unions have been stepping up pressure on the state government to clear the pending DAs. Towards this, they formed a JAC of Telangana employees, gazetted officers, teachers, workers and pensioners comprising 53 employees unions. They have decided to launch a joint struggle if the state government fails to take steps in this regard.

JAC chairman M. Jagadesswar and secretary general E. Sreenivasa Rao said that they will be announcing their future course of action if the state government fails to address their issues.

Against this backdrop, Revanth Reddy has called for clearing two DAs in the first phase.
