Telangana Govt. Spent Rs 657 Cr on Infra in Govt Schools: Ponguleti
Khammam: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy reaffirmed the Congress government's commitment to strengthen state-run schools, citing the development of infrastructure through an investment of Rs 657 crore over the past 10 months.
Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the Young India Integrated Residential School (YIIRS) complex at Ponnekal, the minister emphasised that the government had provided uniforms and textbooks to students on the very first day of the academic year. Additionally, he highlighted the swift recruitment of 11,006 teachers, filling positions in record time.
The minister said each Young India Integrated Residential School Complex would accommodate and provide education to between 2,750 and 3,000 students.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that the YIIRS aimed to instill equality in the minds of children from an early age while ensuring quality education.
Laying the foundation stone for a YIIRS school building at Govindapuram in Bonakallu mandal, he explained that these residential schools for SCs, STs, BCs, and minorities would be situated in a single location to avoid any division among students.
Minister for roads and buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy announced that students from poor families will soon receive the same level of quality education as the children of wealthy families.
Speaking at a YIIRS event at Gandhamvarigudem on the outskirts of Nalgonda, he said that the construction work will be completed within eight months. Admissions to the school will be open from the next academic year. He said the building for the Government Medical College in Nalgonda will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy in November.
