Telangana govt to issue fresh job notifications from January
Hyderabad: The state government is preparing to issue new job notifications beginning from next month after a delay caused by the Scheduled Castes (SC) sub-categorisation issue following the Supreme Court’s judgement on August 1 that allowed states to sub-classify SCs.
The first notification will be for the district selection committee (DSC) teacher recruitment exam, aimed at filling 6,000 teacher posts in government schools. Earlier this year, the government successfully completed the recruitment of over 10,000 teachers through a mega DSC notification issued in February.
Following the DSC recruitment, the state government will proceed with issuing other job notifications as per the annual job calendar, and ensure that the recruitment processes are completed by June.
The government has appointed a judicial commission to study all implications of implementing the Supreme Court order. The panel is expected to submit its report by the month-end.
The sub-categorisation is likely to alter SC reservations in the upcoming job notifications. The state government was unable to move forward with recruitments as there was no clarity on this issue.
Following the Supreme Court’s verdict, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy constituted a Cabinet sub-committee, headed by minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, to study the judgment and recommend measures to implement it.
After two months of examination, the committee proposed the formation of a judicial commission. On October 9, Revanth Reddy issued orders to form a one-man judicial commission, setting a deadline of 60 days for submission of its report and recommendations.
The state government appointed retired Telangana High Court judge Justice Shameem Akhtar as the head of the commission on October 12. Justice Akhtar assumed charge and began work on November 11.
At a Global Madiga Day event on Saturday, the Chief Minister announced that the commission would submit its report next week. Official sources indicate that the report will possibly be finalised by the month-end.
The Congress government had earlier promised to release an ‘annual job calendar’ during the Assembly elections. Staying true to its promise, it released the calendar in the Legislative Assembly on August 2.
The calendar outlined 20 job notifications scheduled to be issued from September 2024 to June 2025, including recruitment for group-1, group-2 and group-3, health department, police recruitment, teacher eligibility tests and teaching positions in government colleges and universities. But the notifications were put on hold due to the government’s decision to address the SC sub-categorisation issue first.
According to official sources, the government plans to issue its first notification in January after the judicial commission’s report is reviewed and a decision is made on implementing SC sub-categorisation.
