Telangana Govt Will Transform Warangal Into a Health Hub

Warangal: Health minister C. Damodara Rajanarsimha on Thursday said the state government was giving a lot of thrust on Warangal — Orugallu — to transform it into a health hub. Any super specialty treatment can be provided in the city shortly, he added.

The minister was speaking after inaugurating the Rs 183-crore government medical college and hospital in Narasampet constituency along with Warangal district in-charge minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and endowment minister Konda Surekha. MP Porika Balram Naik and MLAs Donthu Madhava Reddy and K.R. Nagaraju were present.

Along with the 200-bed facility in Narsampet, the government was also planning to establish a cancer treatment centre, along with centres for IVF and injuries in Warangal.

The government was in the process of recruiting teaching and non-teaching faculty for the college. It would also establish a nursing college at a cost of Rs 28 crore along with a para-medical college at a cost of Rs 30 crore in Narsampet.

The Congress government of the late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajashekar Reddy had introduced the Aarogyasri scheme to provide medical treatment to poor patients free, the BRS government did not allocate even a single rupee in 10 years to it.

But after the formation of the people’s government of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the government had increased allocations to the Aarogyasri scheme, Rajanarsimha added.

Srinivas Reddy said by investing Rs 30.49 crore sanctioned under AMRUT 2.0 to the Narsampet town, the government will speed up providing pure drinking water round the clock to every household.
