Telangana HC Orders Authorities to Pay Compensation for Land
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court expressed anger over the revenue divisional officer, tahsildar and MPDO of Yadadri-Bhongir district for their scant respect for the orders passed by the Court for payment of compensation to an octogenarian, from whom the government took land unauthorisedly long ago. The court directed them to appear before the Court on December 30 if they fail to pay the compensation amount as per the award dated November 13, 2022.
Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy was dealing with a contempt petition filed by 86-year-old Raheemuddin, who complained that the said authorities were showing scant regard for the court directions on the payment of compensation to his land, which was taken possession by the government without following the due procedure.
The local body authorities took possession of Raheemuddin’s land in 2010 when he was working abroad. They have constructed permanent structures like roads, school buildings, water tanks, a bore-well and a bus stop illegally on the land measuring 1.38 guntas in Survey No. 171 of Gopalapuram village of the district. When Raheemuddin approached the High Court, Justice Reddy in 2022 had ordered the authorities to pay compensation within three weeks. As the authorities had failed to comply with the orders, Raheemuddin filed a contempt case.
