Telangana HC Orders Review of Private Colleges Intake Requests

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Tuesday directed the state government to consider the applications submitted by private engineering colleges which sought to enhance student intake for the CSE, IT, AI and other courses.

Two days ago, a single judge bench had dismissed the pleas of the engineering colleges. Challenging the orders, the colleges filed an appeal which were heard by a division bench of Justice Sujoy Paul and Justice Namavarapu Rajeshwar Rao.

The colleges argued that there was no demand for core branches like civil and others, and they could not run classes for these courses with few students. Hence, they wanted to close the courses for which there were no sufficient students and offer those for which there was a demand.

The colleges submitted that the AICTE and JNTU had already accepted their application but the state government had denied permission.
