Telangana HC: Pay Salary Dues of 26 Years or Appear Before Court, Principal Secretary (Home) Warned
Hyderabad: In a contempt case over non-payment of salary to a sweeper for 26 years, the Telangana High Court cautioned the principal secretary (home) to either comply with the court orders in release of salary or appear before the court on November 27.
Justice Jukanti Anil Kumar expressed dissatisfaction at the attitude of the police department in not implementing court orders for six years with regard to payment of salary to the sweeper.
The judge was dealing with the contempt case filed by Shaik Janmiya, who had worked as a sweeper in Chilkur police station of Suryapet district from 1991 to 2018 and he was not paid salary. When he approached the High Court in 2017, the court directed the home department to make payment to him within four weeks.
As the orders were not being complied with, he filed a contempt case. Justice Anil Kumar questioned the home department for implementing court orders. Giving one final chance to the department, the court directed implementation of the orders by November 27, failing which the principal secretary (home) had to appear before the court.
