Telangana HC Rejects Plea Seeking FIR Against CM

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Wednesday dismissed a writ petition filed by Errolla Srinivas of BRS, seeking a direction to Banjara Hills police to register a case against Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, alleging that he used filthy language against BRS leaders.

Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy made it clear that the writ petition was not maintainable and the petitioner had no locus to file such a petition.

The judge during the course of the hearing, observed that political leaders spoke on a lot of issues in various meetings and such contents of the speeches could not be taken as threatening or derogatory. The court also observed that unless there was a threat to public order, the speeches could not be curtailed.

However, the court also expressed concern about exchange of heated words and challenges among the political parties.

Errolla Srinivas, former chairman of Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe Commission, in his petition alleged that the Chief Minister hurled verbal abuses against former Chief Minister KCR and former ministers KTR and Harish Rao at a meeting on March 6, 2024 and had openly threatened the BRS leaders by stating that he would pull out their intestines and would garland them around his neck and would go for procession.

Such filthy and derogatory language by CM Revanth Reddy will incite violence and fear amongst citizens and will pave way for law and order issues in the state, the petitioner alleged in his complaint.
