Telangana HC Rejects Sridhar Babu’s Discharge Petition
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court dismissed the criminal petition filed by IT minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, seeking discharge from the FIR registered against him in 2017 on allegations of obstructing government officials from performing their legitimate duties during the public hearing on “Kaleshwaram irrigation project” at Raghavapuram in Peddapalli.
However, the court gave relief to him while dispensing with his appearance before the special judicial first class magistrate for excise cases in relation to the hearing of the said FIR.
Justice K. Lakshman was dealing with two petitions filed by Sridhar Babu, including a criminal revision seeking a direction to set aside the order of the special judicial first class magistrate for excise cases at Hyderabad, who was not inclined to discharge him from this case. The judge dismissed the petition but dispensed with the petitioner’s appearance before the Court and issued notice to the de facto complainant, K. Mallikarjuna Prasad, an executive engineer, Kataram, who had complained that Sridhar Babu had thrown chairs and created a ruckus,.
Based on the complaint, Basantnagar police registered an FIR, which has been pending before the court. The minister approached the High Court this year.
