Telangana HC seeks status report on probe into Nerella atrocities
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Thursday directed the state government to file a status report on the progress it made in the case registered against police who are facing allegations of torturing Dalit and BC youths of Nerella village in Siricilla district in August, 2017.
The bench of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice J. Sreenivas Rao was hearing two PILs filed by Gaddam Laxman and retired judge of the High Court, Justice
B. Chandra Kumar seeking action against police and Rs 10 lakh compensation to each of the eight victims who suffered severe injuries at the hands of the police at Siricilla police station.
As there is no action in the said incident, one of the victims filed an implead petition. However, the court was not inclined to allow the implead petition.
