Telangana HC Slams Official Over Jubilee Hills Society Issue

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Friday took a serious note of M. Haritha, commissioner of co-operation and registrar of co-operative societies, for sitting quiet on the inquiry report over the alleged irregularities committed by the managing committee of the Jubilee Hills Co-operative House Building Society, and non-compliance of court orders.

Justice C.V. Bhaskar Reddy cautioned the commissioner that she would be sent to prison if she showed disregard for court orders. Haritha was present before the court which ordered her to be present for further hearings until the court dispensed with her appearance.

Justice Bhaskar Reddy was dealing with a contempt case filed by A. Murali Mukund, ex-secretary of the society, for not complying with the court orders in the petition filed by him seeking action against the past and present executive committee of the society which is headed by Bollineni Ravindranath Chowdary and others for allegedly transferring properties of the society.

Based on the allegations, the co-operative societies department had conducted an inquiry, but action was not initiated against those found guilty. The officer did not disclose the inquiry report to the society members and also did not submit it to the court.

The judge during an earlier hearing had summoned the commissioner. Following the orders, on Friday, Haritha appeared in the court and furnished a copy of the inquiry report. She could not answer the questions posed by the court on not disclosing the report and not initiating action based on its findings.
