Telangana: Inter-state chain snatching gang held, arms seized

The arrests were made during a vehicle check on Friday night. The gang was found to have committed multiple chain-snatching offences within the Nizamabad Police Commissionerate limits

NIZAMABAD: Nizamabad police arrested members of an inter-state chain-snatching gang and seized a country-made pistol along with one live round of ammunition. The operation, led by CCS assistant commissioner of police Nagendra Chary, resulted in the arrest of Srihari Devidas Sharma alias Hariya (24) from Nanded, Maharashtra; Amer Ali Khan alias Barsad Amer from Autonagar, Nizamabad; and Aman from Gundaram.

The arrests were made during a vehicle check on Friday night. The gang was found to have committed multiple chain-snatching offences within the Nizamabad Police Commissionerate limits.

In-charge commissioner of police Ch. Sindhu Sharma revealed that the accused were part of an organised crime gang led by rowdy-sheeter Amer Ali Khan. The gang included others such as Sheik Samad, Danish, Shabad, Aman alias Ammu, Mudassir, and Shabaz.

The gang was involved in murders, bodily harm, chain-snatching, criminal intimidation, possession of arms, and kidnapping. They also threatened the public and, in some instances, recorded videos of victims in compromising conditions to instill fear, she added.
