Telangana Launches Community Mediators Training Programme
Nizamabad: The community mediators programme is an important step towards improving the alternative dispute redressal (ADR) ecosystem in the state, said High Court Chief Justice Alok Aradhe while virtually inaugurating a three-day training programme for community mediators in Nizamabad on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion from High Court premises, he commended the community mediators initiative taken up by High Court judge and Telangana State Legal Services Authority (TLSA) executive chairman Sujoy Paul as it could bring down the numbers of cases in the districts as more cases could be solved at the community level.
“Community mediators programme was already successful in Kerala and Madhya Pradesh states. Mediators are selected from different communities with the help of local administration. As a pilot programme, the TSLA arranged training for 82 people from Nizamabad and 65 people from Kamareddy districts, Justice Aradhe explained. The community mediators came forward to work voluntarily and they would set up community mediation centers for redressal of disputes locally after the training, he added.
Justice Sujoy Paul, High Court judges Justices J. Sreenivas Rao, K. Surender, TSLA member secretary Ch. Panchakshari, Nizamabad and Kamareddy principal district and sessions judges and chairpersons DSLAs Suneetha Kunchala and Ch.V.R.R. Prasad and others spoke on this occasion. District collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu, commissioner of police Kalmeshwar Shinganewar and others were present.
