Adilabad: Political leaders have started fearing interaction with those in other parties for fear of being misunderstood or being accused of hobnobbing with opponents.
Leaders, especially those who recently joined the Congress from BRS, and also sitting BRS MLAs, are consciously avoiding marriage or other functions of opponent party leaders. Even if they have to go, they either go early or late to avoid exchanging niceties with opponent party leaders.
Recently, a senior leader who recently joined the Congress from BRS, went to former minister Jogu Ramanna’s house to console him on the death of his brother in Jainad. The senior leader planned his visit in such a way that BRS MLAs and leaders left Ramanna’s place by the time he reached Jainad.
An MLC altogether avoided meeting the former minister despite the latter’s personal loss, as news had been spread that he is trying to lure Jogu Ramanna into the Congress.
It is peculiar that unlike in the past when public representatives attended social functions organised by other party leaders, leaders choose not to interact, as their respective party’s high commands are keeping a close watch on their movements.
Major political parties are keen on keeping their flock intact, following reports that some of their MLAs may ditch them.
Before the last assembly elections, former BRS MLAs Koneru Konappa, Azmeera Rekha Naik, Vittal Reddy and Allola Indrakaran Reddy had joined the Congress.
A senior BRS leader said BRS and BJP leaders are avoiding attending the functions of Congress party leaders, as they may be accused of changing their loyalties.
