Telangana: Man Gets 10-yr RI for Killing Woman in Accident

Hyderabad: A 24-year-old man was sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment on Saturday, for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and causing the death of a woman in the Shankarpally police station area.

In 2021, Firangi Ravi, a resident of Kandawada village in Chevella mandal, was returning to Chevella with his wife Firangi Lakshmi from Shankarpally, where he was admitted to a hospital. The accused, while drunk, was carelessly driving his bike at a high speed.

On the outskirts of Ramanthapur, he hit the complainant's bike and caused the death of the complainant's wife on the spot. After hearing the case, the LB Nagar 9th District Sessions Court Judge Gaurav Harisha sentenced the accused to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs.10,000.

Man kills women out of jealousy, held

Hyderabad: Shadnagar police arrested a man for allegedly murdering a 46-year-old woman over jealousy. The incident occurred on Saturday in the Shadnagar police station area. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Pavani, 46, and the accused - Venkat, 40.

On December 15, the deceased was reportedly sweeping at a nearby place as part of her duty when the accused allegedly approached her. The accused had an altercation with the deceased meeting her husband. Allegedly Venkat first beat her up with a stick. After realising that she had not died yet, he picked an iron road and hit her head and killed her instantly on the spot.

The next day, he allegedly stepped out of his house by telling his family that he was going for tea but fled to Kurnool via train. After a case was registered with the police, teams went to Kurnool and nabbed the accused on Saturday.
