Hyderabad: A Fast-Track Special Court in LB Nagar sentenced Bhimanapalli Raju, a 23-year-old autorickshaw driver, to five years of rigorous imprisonment for attempting to sexually assault a minor. The judgment was delivered on Tuesday on the incident reported to the Abdullapurmet police in 2018.
Raju was found guilty for forcibly abducting a minor girl and engaging in indecent behaviour, under the Indian Penal Code, and the Pocso Act.
In addition to the conviction, the court imposed a fine of Rs.12,500 on Raju and ordered a compensation of Rs.2 lakh to the victim for the trauma she endured.
Man Leaks Photos of Minor, Held
Hyderabad: The city cybercrime police on Tuesday arrested 21-year-old Aqeel for allegedly leaking private pictures and videos of a minor within the Bandlaguda police limits. The police was acting on a complaint of the victim’s parents. Police booked a case under the IT Act, BNS and the Pocso Act.
Speeding Vehicle Crushes Man
Hyderabad: An man died after being hit by an unidentified vehicle near Pillar 622 close to the Miyapur Metro Rail station. Miyapur inspector Prem Kumar said the victim had not been identified and was suspected to be a migrant worker.
Train Passenger Drugged, Looted
Hyderabad: An unidentified man drugged a railway passenger with sedative-laced cream biscuits in a train and fled with seven tola gold ornaments that he was wearing and a bag containing Rs.50,000 cash. The victim, Siddaiah, a farmer, was returning home to Hasan, Karnataka, when the incident occurred, said R. Yellappa, Kacheguda GRP station house officer. The incident occurred on Mysore Express shortly after the train left Kacheguda. Siddaiah woke up when the train reached Bengaluru and realised he had been robbed.
10 Peddlers Held with 391kg Ganja
Kothagudem: Bhadrachalam Excise police arrested 10 ganja peddlers and seized 391 kg of the contraband at checkposts on the state bordes in five different incidents, according to a press release issued by deputy commissioner of excise enforcement, Khammam, Janardhan Reddy.
