Telangana: MP Seeks Rs 100 Cr for Nagarjunasagar Tourism
Nalgonda: Nalgonda Member of Parliament Kunduru Raghuveer Reddy on Thursday met Union tourism minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in New Delhi and submitted a representation seeking allocation of Rs 100 crore funds under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme 2.0 for the comprehensive tourism development of Nagarjunasagar and Buddhavanam in the state.
Raghuveer Reddy said the Union minister responded positively and promised to look into the proposal. He highlited the immense potential of Nagarjunasagar and Buddhavanam to become world-class tourist destinations and this funding would help showcase the rich cultural and historical heritage of Telangana on a global stage.
He said that Nagarjunasagar is already famous for its scenic beauty, historic sites and cultural significance. Additionally, the Buddhavanam, a thematic park dedicated to showcasing Buddhist heritage, represents a significant project that could attract international tourists, particularly from the countries like Japan, Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia, further boosting cultural exchange and pilgrimage tourism, he noted.
