Telangana: New Mandals Raise Hope of Politicos Ahead of Local Polls
Adilabad: The government’s move constituting three new Mandal Praja Parishads such as Bhoraj, Sathnala and Sonala assumed political importance in view of ensuing local body elections in Adilabad district.
The BRS government created the new mandals but did not put it in the gazette. It is said that three MPP and ZPTC seats will be made in the district. Sonala falls in Boath Assembly constituency while Bhoraj and Sathnala are in Adilabad Assembly constituency.
Tahasildar offices will come up in three new mandals and the administration will be decentralised. Local people get the benefit of local administration instead of going to other mandals and district headquarters.
BRS leader R. Ramesh said constitution of three new MPPs has raised aspiration among political leaders who hoped for a change in reservations of ZPTCs.
A total of 46 villages were brought under the newly created mandals as part of a reorganisation in Adilabad district.
Local people agitated for the creation of a new mandal last year. While there would be 12 GPs in Sonala, 17 GPs will come up in Sathnala and Bhoraj.
Local people had been long demanding these new mandals. People of Boath had a relay hunger strike demanding creation of a Boath revenue division.
The ruling party announced the above mandals respecting the sentiments of local people. Congress leaders are trying to take advantage of the state government's decision.
