Many critically ill patients sent to Hyderabad

Nizamabad: Viral fevers continued to rise in the last one month in Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts. District medical and health officials are, however, clueless over the spread of fevers, and in some cases, deaths.
The beginning of monsoon generally sees seasonal diseases in rural as well as urban areas. But, this time, the continuous rise in viral fevers, including dengue, is worrying the common man and the authorities.
Patients from Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Nirmal, Jagtial and neighbouring Nanded district of Maharashtra are coming in scores to Nizamabad either to get admitted to the Government General Hospital or any of the private hospitals.
Meanwhile, pathological laboratories, both government as well as private, are busy collecting blood samples.
Main cases that are being reported are dengue, chikungunya and Malaria. Every household reports at least one of the cases.
Some critically ill patients have been shifted to corporate hospitals in Hyderabad.
District medical and health officer B. Rajasri said that though viral fever cases are being reported, the condition of the patients is stable. “If patients are unable to take proper medication for more than three days, they are facing a difficult situation,” she said, adding that doctors and medicines are available to tackle the viral fevers in the district.
District Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu admitted that there has been an unusual rise in fever cases in the district. “There is no specific reason for the spread of viral fevers,” he said. “We primarily analyse that cycling of environmental changes for four years might be the reason for the large number of fever cases,” he explained.
“People from other districts are also reaching Nizamabad which is resulting in high number cases being reported here,” he said.
Replying to a question he said that sanitation conditions are being maintained in a hygienic way in gram panchayats. “T Hub is handling dengue cases to ascertain the reasons,” he added.
