Telangana not 'rising' but falling, Revanth full of lies: KTR

HYDERABAD: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday stated that the single biggest “achievement” of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was to constantly sling mud at his opponents. Rama Rao mocked the ‘Telangana Rising’ campaign of the government, saying the reality is Telangana is falling on every front.

Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, the BRS headquarters, Rama Rao said that instead of meaningless rhetoric and abuse of the Opposition, Revanth Reddy should inform people of what service the Congress government has performed for the people in one year of its rule.

Rama Rao also slammed Revanth Reddy on claims of the previous BRS government taking loans, saying “the reality is that the actual borrowings amounted to Rs 4.26 lakh crore, not Rs 6.71 lakh crore as alleged. The Congress government started with a Rs 5,944 crore revenue surplus, but this past year, it borrowed Rs 1 lakh crore. The government must explain where all this money has gone.”

Rama Rao said Revanth Reddy’s claim of repaying Rs 6,500 crore as principal and interest every month was a lie. “Records from the Reserve Bank of India show only Rs 2,900 crore is being paid monthly, amounting to Rs 34,730 crore annually. Even the CAG pointed out that only Rs 2,164 crore was spent on interest payments between April and October this year,” he said.

On the case filed against BRS MLA T Harish Rao, Rama Rao said a Congress leader had complained and the police filed an FIR out of fear. “There is no truth in it. We are not going to be scared of these cases,” he said.
