Nizamabad: Government officials in the district allegedly do not bother to receive bribes through mobile apps like Google Pay and Phonepe.
They openly demand and accept bribes through online modes. Recently, a mandal-level officer in Yedapally mandal received Rs 10,000 from a petitioner which came to the notice of district collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu and MLA P. Sudarshan Reddy.
To do official favours, a few mandal and village level officers demand bribes from people. They accept money through money apps on cell phones. If the petitioners pay the bribes, services are delivered early, otherwise they are inordinately delayed. Paying money through mobile apps could be evidence for the bribe charges, but the errant officials don’t bother.
In Yedapally mandal, a mandal-level officer took Rs 10,000 from a petitioner to do an official favour. The petitioner brought the issue to the notice of Congress party leaders. Meanwhile, Bodhan MLA P. Sudarshan Reddy took it seriously and asked district collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu to take action on the officer. The incident went viral on social media on Thursday.
