Telangana Plans Grand Push for Tourism

Officials were asked to speed up development at Ramappa Temple, Yadagirigutta Temple, Golconda Fort and Nagarjuna Sagar Dam.

Hyderabad: Tourism minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Tuesday directed officials to prepare a comprehensive, time‑bound action plan for infrastructure development, destination branding and effective promotion of tourism. Chairing a tourism advisory committee meeting, he stressed the need for better infrastructure, including clean toilets, temporary accommodation, tents, glass houses and improved visitor facilities at key locations.

Krishna Rao also proposed holding an annual carnival in Hyderabad in November-December, when the weather is pleasant to attract domestic and international tourists, alongside city beautification through sculptures, landscaping and creative public spaces.

Officials were asked to speed up development at Ramappa Temple, Yadagirigutta Temple, Golconda Fort and Nagarjuna Sagar Dam. They also highlighted opportunities in medical, wellness, temple and film tourism, and underlined the importance of stronger global marketing. Steps are already underway to improve amenities, promote investments and strengthen Telangana’s tourism brand, officials added.
