Telangana police top All India Police Duty meet

In a first, six sniffer dogs of the police department won gold, silver, and bronze medals at the 68th All India Police Duty Meet in Ranchi for their exceptional skills in detecting narcotics, human scents and other substances within the given time

Hyderabad: Telangana police team, comprised of a total of 18 personnel, ranging from inspectors to constables, including a woman sub-inspector, earned 18 medals—six gold, four silver and eight bronze—placing Telangana at the top in the national competitions. The Telangana contingent showcased outstanding performance, skill, discipline and dedication, securing an impressive tally of medals across multiple categories, said CID SP Bhookya Ram Reddy, who oversaw the Telangana teams, in a press release on Monday.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy congratulated the team for clinching the overall championship trophy. He stated the state government’s commitment to supporting the police department by providing national-level training with expert coaches.

Ram Reddy explained that six sniffer dogs from the intelligence security wing (ISW) participated in detecting narcotics and human scents in the Anti-Sabotage Check and Sniffer Dogs competitions. The dog handlers excelled in their tasks, bringing home gold, silver and bronze medals.

The Telangana teams participated in events such as scientific aids to investigation, anti-sabotage check, computer awareness and dog squad competitions. In the scientific aids to investigation category, Telangana police performed admirably in crime scene sample collection and preservation. Despite facing tough competition, Telangana's teams secured 18 medals, marking a historic achievement for the police department, Ram Reddy said.
