Telangana Readying MSME Policy: Sridhar Babu
Hyderabad: IT and industries minister D. Sridhar Babu on Monday said that Telangana will introduce its first-ever policy for micro small and medium scale enterprises (MSMEs) in the upcoming session of the Assembly.
Speaking at a conclave titled ‘MSMEs: An Inclusive Growth,’ organized by the FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) on Monday, the minister said the proposed policy will seek to ensure the active participation of MSMEs in the state’s economic development. The government will seek industry feedback to make the policy more inclusive, he added.
Stating that artificial intelligence represents a new wave of IT evolution, the minister said the government is also planning to establish an AI Park on approximately 200 acres. It will have an AI school and support research activities in artificial intelligence. Additionally, the government will set up a skill university, which will be managed and operated by industry stakeholders.
He said Hyderabad is a home to over 200 global capacity centres and many more are expected to set up shop in the city in the coming days.
Crediting the Congress government for laying the foundation for the IT revolution in Hyderabad, the minister said that the IT sector got a firm footing in the city with the establishment of the Software Technology Park of India in 1992. Successive governments have maintained this momentum, and the current government is focused on business continuity and the progressive policies of previous regimes.
