Telangana RTC to Run Additional Buses During Sravanam
HYDERABAD: To meet the increased demand during the auspicious month of Sravanam, the Secunderabad region of Telangana Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) will run additional buses, said regional manager Khusro Shah Khan. RTC buses will also be made available for hire service for marriages and vanamahosthavams, which are being conducted by various colony communities.
Talking to Deccan Chronicle here on Thursday, Khan said the region was operating 1,346 buses from 11 depots and had received a new allocation of 400 electric buses.
“So far, we have received 111 electric vehicles and the Cantonment and Miyapur-2 depots are operating them. Out of these, 49 AC buses are being run for airport commutes and 37 AC buses and 25 non-AC metro express services are running on other routes. We are also equipping Kukatpally, Ranigunj and Hyderabad Central University depots with infrastructure to operate electric buses,” Khan explained.
Khan said they are striving to improve the passenger safety. As part of it, the drivers are being trained by senior drivers who have no accident record in the last 34 years, he said. He also informed of the RTC’s plans to fill about 3,045 posts and this recruitment would help provide better services to the public.
