Campuses for 133 Welfare Institutions

Hyderabad:The Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society board of governors on Thursday cleared a set of academic, welfare, staff and campus-related decisions, including permanent campuses for 133 institutions now running from rented premises.
The meeting, chaired by minister Adluri Laxman Kumar, was only the third since 2017. The minister said education remained central to the government’s work for SC, ST, BC and minority students.
The board approved a separate administrative division for society-run degree colleges, UGC pay scales for degree faculty, a special committee for NAAC accreditation, undergraduate AI courses and in-principle approval for a pharmacy college in Hyderabad.
It also cleared nine more centres of excellence to train students from Class IX for NEET, JEE and other national entrance tests. Foundation Centres will get additional subject experts. The board approved laptops and financial aid for eligible SC community students in premier institutions in India and abroad, a ‘Phone Mitra’ facility for parent interaction, a common menu system, higher pay for part-time teachers, TGT status for craft and art teachers, and roster-based appointments at the state office.
