Telangana State Govt Releases Job Calendar
HYDERABAD: The Congress government on Friday released a job calendar in the Legislative Assembly giving fixed time schedules for issuing job notifications and conducting recruitment exams for the year 2024-25 to fill vacancies across government departments on the lines of UPSC as promised during the Assembly elections in November 2023.
The calendar consists of 20 job notifications, which will be issued from September to June 2025. These notifications pertain to Group 1, Group 3, health department, Group 2, the two discoms TGSPDCL, TGNPDCL, gazetted category, Teacher Eligibility Test, Group-1 forest department, DSC teacher recruitment exam, police recruitment, teaching posts in government colleges and universities.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who released the calendar in the House, outlined the state government's commitment to resolving issues related to recruitment notifications and addressing the concerns of unemployed youth in the state.
However, the opposition BRS and BJP lashed out at the Congress government for issuing job notification without specifying the number of vacancies. They termed the job calendar as 'bogus' and an attempt to cheat students and unemployed persons in the state. However, Bhatti strongly countered the criticism stating that the respective recruitment agencies will notify the vacancies when they issue job notifications as per the schedule prescribed in the job calendar since new vacancies will arise every month due to the retirement of existing staff. It will be incorrect to specify the vacancies at this stage, he explained.
Bhatti highlighted the failures of the BRS government in issuing job notifications and conducting recruitment exams, leaked question papers and postponement and cancellation of exams. He pointed out that the Group-1 examination had been cancelled twice during the BRS regime, citing incidents such as the March 17, 2023 paper leak and the February 19, 2024 exam cancellation due to a High Court judgment regarding biometric data that was not taken from candidates.
The Deputy CM announced that the Congress government had taken decisive steps to overhaul the Telangana Public Service Commission. The Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy were in touch with the chairman of UPSC to initiate reforms. A committee, comprising senior IAS officers and members of the UPSC and Kerala Public Service Commission, was formed to study and implement changes.
Bhatti stated that a new notification for 563 vacancies, including an additional 60 posts in the Group-1 notification, had been issued. The results for these positions have been announced, and the schedule for the main exams is set for October 21 to 27.
Since coming to power, the Congress government has issued recruitment orders to 32,410 unemployed youth. The recruitment process for 13,505 jobs is in its final stages. The government has also released a mega DSC notification for filling 11,022 teacher vacancies, he pointed out.
Due to concerns raised by candidates about insufficient time between examinations, the government has decided to postpone the Group-1 exams, initially scheduled for August 7 and 8, to December.
The Deputy CM stated that the state cabinet, in a meeting held on Thursday, had discussed and approved the job calendar for the year 2024-25. The calendar has been distributed to all members in the House, marking a new phase of transparency and efficiency in the state's recruitment processes.
The job calendar consists of 20 job notifications which will be issued from September to June 2025. These notifications pertain to Group-1, Group-3, health department, Group-2, TGSPDCL, TGNPDCL, Gazetted category, Teacher Eligibility Test, Group-1 forest department, DSC teacher recruitment exam, police recruitment, teaching posts in government colleges and universities.
