Hyderabad: The United School Teachers Protection Committee (USTPC) raised serious concerns about transparency and fairness in the teacher transfer process. The committee condemned blocking of thousands of SGT-equivalent category posts for rationalisation without a clear policy decision and highlighted several issues that were affecting teachers. "The education department must address the issues of blocked vacancies, short option windows, and errors in seniority lists," stated Ravinder C., a representative of the USTPC. "Transparent processes are essential for transfers," he added, emphasising the need for comprehensive policy decisions. The USTPC criticised the education department for not allocating additional posts as required by schools while blocking excess posts based on student numbers. It pointed out that the rationalisation process, implemented midway through the transfers and promotions schedule, is causing confusion, especially in primary and upper primary schools. The committee also expressed dissatisfaction with the limited option window given to secondary grade teachers (SGTs), emphasising that a one-day window for such a significant number of transfers is impractical. They raised concerns about errors in the seniority lists and the incomplete display of vacancies, and wondered whose interests were being served with flawed transfers. The teachers urged the education department to resolve software glitches, server issues, and the unannounced rationalisation process to conduct transparent web counseling, which should be devoid of errors.
