Hyderabad: The state government has announced that it will procure an additional 25,000 metric tonnes of soybeans from the market. This will be over and above the target set for the season earlier.
In a release,e the agriculture department stated the procurement is over and above the 59,000 metric tonnes made at Rs 4,892 per tonne. The decision has been taken after requests from people’s representatives and district collectors. As many as 49 MARKFED centres will be opened and continue to procure soybeans as usual even after meeting the target.
The proposal for the same has been sent to the Central government seeking permission but keeping the interest of the farmers, go ahead has been given for procurement, minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said in a statement.
The procurement was the highest in Adilabad which stood at 27,811 metric tonnes followed by Nirmal 14,476 metric tonnes, Kamareddy - 7867.75 metric tonnesn, Nizamabad - 5413.85 metric tonnes and Sangareddy - 3,339 metric tonnes, he added.
