Telangana: Two Cops Fight over Bribe, Booted Out

Warangal: Two constables of Nekkonda police station here in the district fought over sharing of a bribe given by a complainant. The incident took place a few days back, but came to light on Tuesday when commissioner transferred both the policemen to different police stations (PS).

The circle inspector of Nekkonda police station under East Zone police limits of Warangal police commissionerate went on leave when the charge was handed over to a head constable.

The in-charge head constable on October 30 went to a village to conduct an inquiry pertaining to a complaint filed by a villager. After he returned to the police station, he received a call from the complainant, telling him that he handed over the bribe money to another constable who visited his house after his return.

When the constable came to the police station, the in-charge head constable asked him about the money which led to a heated exchange between the two. Both started quarrelling and came to exchanging blows in front of everyone creating a ruckus in the police station.

After learning the incident, police commissioner Ambar Kishor Jha ordered east zone DCP Ravinder to conduct an inquiry. Based on the inquiry report, the commissioner transferred the erring policemen, one to Dharmasagar PS and another to Elkathurthy PS.

Meanwhile, people questioned the transfer, alleging instead of taking departmental action against the duo on bribery charges, the authorities let them off with transfer.
