Telangana Will Be a Power Surplus State by 2031–32: Dy CM

Jaipur (Adilabad): Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Saturday said the Congress government will ensure that Telangana emerges as a state of surplus power by 2031-32 and sells power to other states and creates jobs for youths.

Telangana Generation Corporation (Genco) workers strive hard to supply power round the clock and the government is ready to sanction power substations and transformers wherever they are needed, he said.

Bhatti was addressing a public meeting in Godavarikhani after inaugurating a skill training centre by the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL). He said priority would be given to self-help groups (SHGs) in the solar power plant scheme under PM Kusum and Rs 20,000 interest-free loan will be provided to each group.

He said the plant at Ramagundam under Genco and SSCL will generate 800 megawatts (MW) power. “There is a peak demand of 15,623 MW power now which will go up to 27,059 MW by 2031-32,” he said.

Bhatti said the BRS government spent Rs 3 crore per year for a residential school but the Congress government has allocated Rs 5,000 crore for the Young India integrated development residential school.

The state government is implementing `1 crore insurance for SCCL workers and the Congress government pays salaries on time unlike in the BRS government besides continuing all welfare schemes, he said.

IT minister D. Sridhar Babu said the state government was committed to implementing crop loan waiver of Rs 2 lakh and was collecting details of farmers whose crop loan was not waived. He promised to establish more skill centres in Peddapalli district. He said plots on which Singareni retired employees’ families are living will be regularized.

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said a stadium will be sanctioned soon for the coal belt area and 30 RTFC buses will be added to Godavarikhani bus depot while a bus depot will come up in Peddapalli district.

Ramagudam MLA Raj Takur Makhan Singh, Pedapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi and Congress MLAs Gaddam Vivek, Vinod and Vijayarama Rao and state adviser Harka Venugopal were present.
