Telangana Will Have Medicinal Garden, Says Damodar
Hyderabad: Health minister C. Damodar Rajanarshimha on Wednesday said that Telangana will soon have a garden of medicinal plants.
Speaking at a review meeting at the Secretariat to discuss the facilities available at the medicine park on Wednesday, he said: "The Telangana Medicinal Plants Board is developing a medicinal plants garden under the name of 'Biosynmedica — the healing centre' at Aziz Nagar, in Rangareddy district. It is a unique living park of national importance, envisioned to meet ex-situ conservation of valuable medicinal species.”
Besides providing cultural and spiritual wellness, the minister said it will foster education and research and help in biodiversity enhancement, he said.
The medicinal park will include 38 thematic gardens, housing more than 1,200 species of medicinal plants. High-density plantations in the lines of Miyawaki plantations are being raised currently with as many as 240 medicinal species.
The park also houses an experiential garden, yoga centre, meditation area, amphitheatre and two artificial ponds, created with an aim to conserve rain water, recharge the groundwater and to provide a habitat for avifauna.
