Hyderabad:Telangana won the ‘Achievers Award’ with regard to ease of logistics, at a ceremony held in New Delhi on Friday. The award was presented by Union commerce and industries minister Piyush Goyal to Dr Vishnu Reddy, industries special secretary and logistics director.
The Logistics Ease Across Different States (LEADS) report, released annually by the Union department for oromotion of industry and internal trade (DPIIT), assesses logistics efficiency across states. Telangana has maintained its position as a top performer among landlocked states, excelling in areas such as infrastructure, technology, and policy development.
Hyderabad, the state capital, serves as a major hub with its world-class international airport, well-connected roadways, and access to industrial corridors. Projects like the Regional Ring Road (RRR), radial roads, new expressways, and dry ports are expected to further improve connectivity and cargo-handling capacities.
The state has also embraced technology to modernise its logistics sector with the use of IoT, AI, and blockchain to improve supply chain operations and reduce delays. Initiatives like the Telangana Logistics Policy aim to simplify processes and strengthen last-mile delivery systems.
Additionally, the state has invested in skill development. The School of Logistics and E-Commerce, part of the Young India Skills University, offers industry-focused training programmes. Telangana also leads in green logistics and promotes the participation of women in the sector.
