Tension grips Gudimalkapur after Asifnagar ACP slaps Karwan MLA contestant Amar Singh

Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at Gudimalkapur on Monday night when the Asifnagar Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kishan slapped senior BJP leader and Karwan MLA contestant Amar Singh and took him to Gudimalkapur police station.

Enraged over the highhandedness of the ACP, a large number of BJP activists and Singh’s supporters came to the police station and staged a protest criticizing the ACP’s action. Raising slogans, the BJP supporters demanded action against the ACP.

Though the police station staff urged them to budge, the irate protestors did not relent, prompting senior officials to rush to the station and pacify the protestors. South West Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police D Uday Kumar Reddy came to the station and persuaded the protestors assuring that he would take the matter seriously and initiate necessary action.

Trouble broke out when Singh took strong objection to the ACP’s instructions to close Golden Palace Hotel even before the completion of permitted time at 10.30 pm. A heated argument took place between them. Even as others were trying to pacify them, ACP suddenly pushed Singh and slapped him resulting in jostling.

Singh was immediately taken to the police station where his supporters staged a demonstration.
