Tension in College as Girl Dies by Suicide in Hanamkonda

Warangal: Tension prevailed in a private junior college here on Wednesday when a first year girl, 16, ended her life in her hostel room under suspicious circumstances. Parents of the deceased and members of student outfits staged a dharna in front of the college at KU-Cross Roads in Hanamkonda.

The girl, a resident of Rathiram Thanda of Nellikudur mandal, was in intermediate at the college and staying in college hostel. On Tuesday night when she did not open the door, co-inmates informed the hostel management.

Upon receiving the information, the management rushed to the hostel and forcibly opened the door. They saw the body of the girl. The management then shifted her to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) hospital, where doctors informed them the girl was received dead.

After learning about the death of their daughter, her parents along with members of various student organisations rushed to the college in the early hours and questioned the management about the reason for their daughter’s death.

Meanwhile, police reached the college. The management told police that the girl was suffering from health-related issues and because of her ill health she took the extreme step.

Argument between college authorities and the parents and student leaders continued when police intervened and stopped student union leaders from entering the college.

However, the parents along with student leaders staged a dharna in front of the college alleging that the management without informing her parents shifted the body to MGM hospital.

Student leaders accused the management of running the college without permission. How can they shift the body to the hospital for postmortem without informing her parents, they questioned.
