HYDERABAD: Textbooks for the 2026-27 academic year will be available in the open market by June 1, while free supplies to government school students are expected to reach all districts before schools reopen, according to the Telangana Government Textbook Printing House.

Officials said 1.35 crore free textbooks are required this year and 1.09 crore copies, about 80 per cent, had already reached district headquarters. “We will complete the supply of the remaining books by May 10. Books will be available to every student in all schools by the time the schools reopen,” they said.

They added that printing and distribution for private school textbooks are on schedule. “All necessary steps have been taken for printing and distribution for this academic year 2026-27 as well, like every year,” they stated, adding that the tender process had been completed in the last week of April and supplies would follow the usual timeline after summer vacation.

District-wise data shows that 1,10,26,229 books have already been dispatched out of a requirement of 1,35,70,155, putting overall distribution at 81 per cent. Officials said students and parents can expect full availability across schools and the open market as the academic session begins.
