Hyderabad:Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said Telangana had emerged as the state with the lowest inflation in the country, a dramatic turnaround from during the BRS regime when the rate of price growth was at its highest.
In a post on X on Saturday, Revanth Reddy highlighted this economic milestone, attributing it to the Congress government’s “transformative and people-centric” policies implemented since coming to power. Among the flagship initiatives he cited were free bus travel for women, subsidised LPG cylinders at ₹500, free electricity for households consuming up to 200 units, `10 lakh coverage under the Rajiv Aarogyasri healthcare scheme, and the recent rollout of free fine rice through ration shops.
“Under BRS rule, Telangana had the highest inflation in the country. Today, it stands as the state with the lowest inflation, a testament to the people's government and its transformative, common man-centric policies,” Revanth Reddy stated.
He said that the government’s bold welfare initiatives had not only eased financial burdens on citizens but have also driven systemic change. “The change people hoped for is now a reality. This is the people's government,” he said.
Data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) revealed that Telangana recorded the lowest inflation rate in the country at just 1.3 per cent for February. According to the NSO report, Kerala topped the chart at 7.3 per cent, followed by Chhattisgarh (4.9), Karnataka (4.5), Bihar (4.5), and Jammu & Kashmir (4.3). At the lower end, Andhra Pradesh recorded 2.4 per cent inflation, Delhi (1.5) and Telangana the recorded lowest inflation at 1.3 per cent.
