TG offers single-window, incentives for RE projects: Bhatti

Hyderabad:Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka announced a single-window clearance and several incentives for renewable energy projects and hinted at several incentives in the clean and green energy policy to be announced after Cabinet approval. He reiterated that the government aimed at adding 20,000 MW of renewable energy (RE) and storage capacity by 2030.
Addressing a stakeholder convention on Telangana’s clean and green energy policy on Friday, Bhatti stated that the government was offering financial incentives for setting up manufacturing units for solar panels, wind turbines, and battery energy storage systems to make Telangana a manufacturing hub.

The proposed policy includes reimbursement of Net SGST, stamp duty, transmission and distribution charges and waives off of the electricity duty to significantly reduce the cost burden on developers.

“To enable every segment of society to contribute to renewable energy, the state is offering 100 per cent net SGST reimbursement for rooftop solar power generation and also for self-help groups and village organisations to establish solar plants between 500 kW to 2 MW capacity and sell power to TG discoms,” Bhatti, who also handles the power portfolio, said.

“At the same time, the state is also focusing on modernising grid infrastructure to seamlessly integrate the growing renewable energy capacity and meet the demands of a sustainable future,” the minister explained.

Noting that the state was going ahead with mega infrastructure projects like Future City, AI City, Pharma City, Regional Ring Road and Metro Rail expansion works, Bhatti said that these developments were projected to drive an exponential rise in peak electricity demand, from 15,623 MW in the current to 24,215 MW by FY30 and 31,809 MW by FY35. It is essential that this demand is met with clean, reliable, affordable and sustainable energy solutions, he noted.
Bhatti said Telangana is endowed with immense potential to generate the renewable energy, receiving over 300 days of sunshine annually, and stood among the top eight states for wind power, with a potential of 54,717 MW.

Bhatti said the government was also exploring opportunities to go for joint ventures for hydel power generation projects in Himachal Pradesh and solar power projects in Rajasthan.
