TG’s petrol bunk to employ disabled, transgenders in Sircilla
Karimnagar: The district administration of Rajanna Sircilla, in collaboration with the state government, has launched a unique plan to provide jobs for people with disabilities and transgender individuals. A 24/7 petrol bunk, established with ₹2.5 crore in government funding facilitated by minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Seethakka and government chief whip Aadi Srinivas, now operates near the Government Medical College under Sircilla Municipality.
Supervised by district collector Sandeep Kumar Jha and set up by IOCL, the project has employed 24 people, including one transgender person. Staff members, trained for their roles, earn a monthly salary of ₹18,000, with potential increments based on revenue.
The petrol bunk sells ₹1 lakh worth of fuel daily and has built a strong reputation for quality and customer trust. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, highlighting how the initiative promotes financial independence and social inclusion. The collector urged the public to support the service and contribute to empowering marginalised communities.
A disabled person Vemula Srinivas of Boinapalli mandal said that the state government did a great thing by thinking about people like him and providing jobs. “I am thankful to the government for giving training in bunk management and providing a job,” he said.
Another disabled person Akula Sandhya thanked the government saying, “The idea of setting up a petrol bunk to provide jobs to people like is is truly remarkable. It made us stand on our own and be financially independent while offering a chance to secure livelihood,” she said.
