TGSPDCL Sees All-Time High Power Demand
Hyderabad:The Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) witnessed an all-time high power demand of 9,910 MW at 10.35 am on Friday. The heavy rain, increased water availability and quality power supply have led to a surge in agricultural demand this season, the discom stated.
TGSPDCL chairman and managing director Musharraf Ali Faruqui, stated that the demand may exceed 10,000 MW this season and said the there was sufficient power supply to meet the growing demand.
Last year's peak demand was recorded at 9,862 MW on September 20, 2023. This week's average power demand stood at 9,317 MW, compared to 9,138 MW in this same period last year. The average consumption increased to 190.29 million units from 182.11 million units.
The TGSPDCL in a separate statement said that the heavy rain on Friday evening had caused disruption at several places as trees and branches fell on the electric wires and poles. The field staff restored the power supply on a war-footing. The Faruqui visited several places on Friday night and inspected the restoration works.
In the Greater Hyderabad limits, 19 feeders broke down and insulators fail down due to fall of trees and branches on power lines and poles at Banjara Hills, Bairamalguda, Manikonda, Bandlaguda, Kismatpur, Shankar Mutt, Tarnaka, Langar Hauz.
The power company had asked the consumers to call the Electricity Control Room by dialling 1912, the local fuse off call office and other electricity authorities concerned to lodge complaints regarding to power outages.
