TGSRTC Runs into Profits: Ponnam
Suryapet: Transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Friday said that the Congress government had brought TGSRTC onto a track of profit within one year.
He inspected the amenities provided to passengers at old and new bus stands of Huzurnagar.
Speaking to the media, Prabhakar said that, unable to run public transport system, the BRS government had initiated steps for its closure. He accused the BRS of diluting TGSRTC in its 10-year rule. After coming to power, the Congress government laid special focus on strengthening TGSRTC and made the corporation into a profit-making organisation.
He reminded that free travel facility to women in TGSRTC buses was provided after the Congress government came to power in the state. So far, 116 crore women have utilised the free travel facility in TGSRTC buses, he added. Out of 60 lakh people traveling in TGSRTC buses every day, 34 lakh were women.
He said that new bus stand of Huzurnagar would be developed with `5 crore.
